N°1 – The Mosquito

The deadliest animal on the planet may surprise some, as it is neither a lion, a shark, nor a crocodile. In fact, the deadliest animal is much smaller and more insidious: the mosquito.

Every year, mosquitoes transmit deadly diseases to millions of people worldwide, including malaria, dengue, chikungunya, and Zika virus. Malaria alone kills nearly 400,000 people annually, primarily in sub-Saharan Africa.

Mosquitoes are so dangerous because they carry lethal diseases and can easily spread them. Female mosquitoes need blood to lay their eggs, and they can bite animals and humans to obtain this blood. If bitten by a mosquito carrying a disease, a person can become infected, leading to illness and potentially death.
